Western Union today announced that it will start accepting Apple Pay across all its stores in the United States. This will allow iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users to send money to their friends and family via their phone at any Western Union store.

iPhone users will also be able to pay their bills and make Western Union money transfers in over 7,600 kiosks of Walgreens and Duane Reade located around the US.

Innovative payment options are a strategic focus for Western Union, and starting to accept Apple Pay is in keeping with the company’s blueprint for the future,” said Odilon Almeida, Western Union President, Americas and European Union. “Our customers’ needs and preferences are top of mind,” he added.

Apple has been steadily increasing the number of partners of Apple Pay ever since it launched the NFC based mobile payment service in October last year. The service already supports most of the card issuing banks that process more than 90% of the credit card transactions in the United States.

Apple is also looking to expand Apple Pay to Canada, Europe, the U.K. and China as well.
