Videocon telecom, a subsidiary of Videocon group, today declared free mobile internet of up to 750MB for those customers who don't use internet at the moment. in addition, the telco is set to start out a free Digital Helpline to support the PM Narendra Modi’s Digital India initiative

Under the trial offer, Videocon  is providing 750MB of free data for all non-Internet user customers valid for 2 months and it plans to give away over 1500TB of free data to such subscribers. the company claims that this initiative can help in educating their client base and can encourage them to start using data and get digitally connected.

Before beginning with this initiative, Videocon Telecommunications had done a survey and found that 86 of its subscribers that weren't using data services had smartphones, however were apprehensive to use it for various reasons. The study also highlights 2 key reasons why individuals do not use these services:

To avail the new offer, Videocon telecom subscribers need to provides a miss call on a pre-defined number and based on their eligibility, the company will enable the free data.

Arvind Bali, Director & chief executive officer, Videocon Telecommunications Ltd. said “This initiative shall address both first time mobile users primarily from rural belts and existing mobile users who are using mobile primarily for voice. The target section is big, and i am sure this can go a long way in digitally connecting each subscriber.”

In June last year, Videocon telecom partnered with Huawei to use its 4G LTE-ready packet core. The operator is set to start providing its 4G LTE services in total 29 key cities across UP and bihar and is going to invest over 1,200 crore for the rollout within the next 3 years.
