Now Twitter is addressing thorny problem of account hijackings by rolling out two-factor authentication for all users. While a necessary first step, this is not sufficient to foil all the hijackers.Users who opt in to use two-factor authentication will be prompted to enter the unique six-digit code sent via SMS to their phones along with their normal username and password whenever they try to log in to Twitter.com, Jim O'Leary, a member of Twitter's product security team, wrote on the company blog. Since third-party tools such as HootSuite rely on a different authentication method, they should not be affected by this change.
