News / Mobile phones Survey shows iOS dominance in the enterprise market

According to a recent survey conducted by Piper Jaffray analyst Troy Jensen, Apple is clearly dominating the enterprise market. Of the 114 companies surveyed by Pipper Jaffray, 98 percent of them supported iOS.

Additionally, 89 percent of the companies in the poll gave their employees iOS devices. Android was supported by 79 percent of the companies in the poll, while Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform was only supported by 58 percent of them.

In terms of device being offered, 57% companies offered their employees an Android device, while only 30 percent offered them Windows Phone devices.

Apple has been dominating the enterprise market since long, and thus, the results of this polls should come as no surprise. However, only 50 percent of the companies polled said that will deploy a tablet this year, which is 10 percent lower than last year. On the positive side though, only 18 percent of the companies have deployed some form of tablet, so there is still an ample room for growth for Apple. The sale of iPad(s) have slowed down recently and a wider adoption in the enterprise market is easily one of the best ways for Apple to give its sales a much needed boost.

“We find the slight decrease in expected tablet deployments interesting and could potentially be due to continued development of ultralight notebooks and phablet mobile devices,” Munster wrote. “Despite this data, we would expect tablet penetration to continue to increase among enterprise given the sub-20% penetration currently.”

With Apple entering into a partnership with IBM to create and deploy enterprise grade apps and services, the penetration of iOS devices including the iPad, is bound to increase further.
