News / Mobile phones Rumor: iPhone 6s to feature 2GB LPDDR4 RAM and Force Touch technology

A report from Taiwanese website TechNews Taiwan suggests that Apple will be bringing its Force Touch technology to the iPhone 6s. A similar rumor was posted by UDN yesterday, who cited their credible source from the Asian supply chains.

Apple calls Force Touch the most important technology since multi-touch and makes great use of it on the Apple Watch. On the watch, electrodes surrounding the display detect the amount of pressure applied on the screen by a user by calculating the deformity of the display.

The report from TechNews also indicates that Apple will be using 2GB LPDDR4 RAM chips inside the next-generation iPhone. LPDDR4 RAM provides twice the bandwidth of LPDDR3 RAM, which is used in iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, while keeping power consumption the same

. The company will be making this move because of the increasingly heavy apps and games and the increasing resolutions of the display used on the iPhone.

Lastly, the report states that Apple will be upgrading the 8MP camera found on the current generation iPhone with a higher resolution sensor. The source, however, failed to mention a specific resolution. Rumors suggest that Apple might use a dual-lens camera to bring optical zoom and improve low-light images of the next-generation iPhone.
