Velox was always an awesome idea when it debuted in iOS 7, but some users were a little upset with the support that was somewhat lacking after the initial release. Well, now we get to take a look at a new Velox 2 for iOS 8, with a new developer and boy, is it nice and shiny! Let’s take a closer look.
If you aren’t familiar with the tweak Velox, it’s one that will allow you to interact with apps right from the home screen without having to open up the application itself. Just use a simple gesture, that you choose in the Settings, to invoke Velox 2. By default, it’s set to a swipe up gesture, so once you swipe up on an icon you’re presented with either a specialized view for that particular app, or if it doesn’t have a specialized view, it will show the notifications for that app.
Here’s a look at the specialized view for the Settings app:
And the Weather app:
As you can see, there’s a lot of great information and tools that can be accessed without ever opening an app. Within the settings you also have some theming options that will allow you to go from a Dark mode to a Light mode, just depending on your preference. But, with quick access to weather, respring/reboot, or even quick composing a tweet, you can already see that this tweak is going to knock it out of the park once it’s release.
Another really nice thing about this tweak is that it will give the ability of creating these specialized views to other developers. So, we as users can benefit from other developers expanding on this tweak just by installing the plugins. We’re not sure on the exact price of this tweak, but I assume it will be reasonable. Take a look at the video below for a much deeper look into this tweak.
