Supreme Court of India today allowed MTS India and Uninor (Mumbai circle), whose mobile service license were due to be revoked on 18th January as per an earlier Supreme Court’s order, to continue their mobile services till it hears the case next on fourth February, 2013. Uninor is planning to participate in the 2G auctions in March 2013 to buy spectrum in Mumbai telecommunication circle. Spectrum strategies of MTS India aren't known at this time.

Today’s Supreme Court’s order can facilitate Russian conglomerate Sistema’s Indian unit Sistema Shyam Teleservice that is operating its Mobile service under the brand MTS India (21 circles) and Norway’s Telenor which is operating Uninor GSM Mobile service in India to continue operations in Mumbai circle beyond a January eighteen deadline in the circles wherever its permits are to be revoked.

SSTL’s mobile subscriber base increased 0.3 percent quarter-on-quarter to 16.64 million customers. Its mobile subscribers’ MoU for Q3 2012 declined to 263 min vs. 281 min in Q2 2012. Its subscriber market share increased to 1.83 percent in Q3 2012 (vs. 1.77 percent in Q2 2012).
