With a major focus of connecting just about everything in the home at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, launching an AirPlay-specific speaker system makes almost perfect sense.Apple’s AirPlay wireless speaker technology may not be making the headlines all that much anymore, but Moshi apparently believes it is still a wireless standard to where to, and so the company has unveiled the Spatia speaker that offers plenty of features under the pleasant to look at hood. With the inclusion of AirPlay, the Spatia speaker can work without an existing Wi-Fi connection thanks to Wi-Fi Direct, or with an existing network if that’s more to the owner’s liking. It also features lossless audio streaming, as a standard feature with AirPlay.
As far as the speaker itself goes, Moshi’s new design features both metallic and fabric accents on the outside, while the inside holds quite a bit of high-end features for audiophiles out there. That includes 1-inch tweeters, a 4-inch downward-firing subwoofer and a pair of 2.75-inch drivers. It also includes two DSP chips and a pair of Class-D amplifiers, all of which work to separately enhance the mid/high frequencies, as low as the low-end, too.
Unfortunately, while the speaker is official, Moshi left out a release date for the system, while also leaving blank the price tag section, too. What do you think of Moshi’s new AirPlay Spatia speaker?
