When your phone dies, god knows that can happen. That’s the message Mophie sends in its awesome new “Game Day” commercial, which reminds us — in an hilariously over-exaggerated way — how catastrophic life can be when our phones run out of juice.

Entitled “All-Powerless,” Mophie’s ad aired during last night’s Super Bowl XLIX, and it depicts an impending apocalypse after god’s smartphone battery dies before the end of the day. It’s Mophie’s first Super Bowl ad, and it’s terrific.

Other Super Bowl first-timers included Skittles, Weight Watcher, and Loctite — but smartphone users will almost certainly relate to Mophie’s more. Ross Howe, the company’s Vice President of Marketing, believes it was well worth the money.

“There’s no bigger platform for an advertiser,” Howe told Mashable. “It’s such an event that the money spent isn’t bad just for the game day impressions alone. But all the social media and publicity up to and around the game? You can’t buy that at any price.”

If you’re unfamiliar with Mophie, it’s a fast-growing U.S. company that specializes in portable battery solutions. Its Juice Pack Air cases are some of the best battery cases you can get for iPhone, while its Powerstation packs will charge almost any gadget via USB.
