MasterCard has been a name tied with Apple Pay right from the get-go, and the card company continues to show off its partnership with Apple’s mobile payments solution well after its launch.Announced on Monday, January 26, MasterCard has revealed that it will be working with the Prom Managmenet Group (an entity that provides catering services to several different major golfing events) to bring “contactless payment options” to the first stop on the PGA Tour, which will be the Waste Management Phoenix Open. The tournament is set to kick off on Thursday, January 29.
According to the announcement, this Apple Pay option will be available at the concession stands, for both food and beverages, near the 16th hole at TPC Scottsdale:
“Food and beverage concessions at the 2015 Waste Management Phoenix Open near the16th hole at TPC Scottsdale will be contactless enabled through a partnership with Prom Management Group, which provides catering to 38 professional golf tour events, allowing golf fans to make payments using Apple Pay, the easy, secure and private way to pay. This will be the first PGA TOUR stop to accept Apple Pay, when it debuts for fans attending the tournament later this week.“
MasterCard will also have some special promotions for MasterCard holders that use Apple Pay on their iPhone or iPhone 6 Plus, so for those individuals attending this stop of the PGA Tour, keep an eye out for those.
