In January of 2015, Apple’s official numbers showed that iOS 8 adoption had jumped up to 68%. While many noted that this adoption rate still trails a bit behind that of iOS 7 a year before, Apple’s latest mobile OS continues to find its way onto new devices.Apple’s latest App Store distribution numbers show that iOS 8 is now officially present on 72% of all iOS devices that are accessing the App Store on their device. Compare that to last month, which saw 68 percent of devices running iOS 8. Moreover, the amount of handsets running iOS 7 continues to shrink, now down to a mere 25% versus the 29 percent it held in January.
Finally, any devices running earlier versions of iOS than 7 are now registering only 3%, while in January it held 4 percent of the total chart.
Now that iOS 8 is on more than 70 percent of devices, it’s time to look forward into this year, when Apple will more than likely unveil a brand new version of its mobile OS. What would you like to see in iOS 9?
