Apple’s relationship with music goes incredibly deep, but ever since the company acquired Beats Electronics and artist Dr. Dre joined the Apple ranks, that relationship has obviously been strengthened.Which is why it would seem so strange for HTC to “go after” Apple in any way that might resemble music. Which is exactly what the company that built the One (M8) has done, thanks to a YouTube video that was uploaded last week to the company’s official channel. The official title for the rap video, which stars rapper Greg “Doc G” Carr and HTC’s David Bruce, is “Doc G’s HTC Anthem – “Hold the Crown” w/ David Bruce” and it’s certainly a thing that you should watch if you’re in need of a smile.
The video is something else, to put it lightly. Doc G spends the majority of the video accompanied by people in cell phone costumes, with the larger-than-life One (M8) from HTC pushing around iPhones and Samsung-branded Galaxy S devices. The lyrics are tuned towards HTC’s features, like BoomSound and a fast processor, and make fun of the iPhone’s “slower chip” for good measure. The lyrics go as far as to call Samsung’s Galaxy “overrated.”
For those who are unaware, Samsung also has a close-knit tie to a pretty famous artist: Jay-Z.
HTC also posted a video interview with Carr talking about his relationship with HTC, where Carr states that HTC has “the best phones created.” You can watch the rap music video below.
