Google Maps is just one more app from the Mountain View-based company to get the upgrade treatment, and it’s certainly holding new features that should make users plenty happy. The newest update was released by Google on Wednesday, January 14, and features several new elements. With the update, it brings the version number up to 4.2.0 for those who keep track of that sort of thing. With the newest software, the ability to filter restaurants by the type of cuisine you’re looking for has been added. On top of that, the app now offers global weather reports for cities you might be interested in.
The app is also now capable of allowing users to add transit directions directly to a calendar event, so they’re there when you need them later. The app will also now let users drop pins on both the destination and starting locations while in the map.
The update should be available now, but as of the time of this writing the official app landing page in the App Store hasn’t populated the update just yet. A link to it is below.
