Making sure that the battery in a smartphone is full enough to get through a day, or even through a set period of time of expected heavy usage, is important to many smartphone owners. Which is where battery packs come in.Unfortunately, technology isn’t always fool-proof, and recently Elgato had to officially set out a recall for many of its external battery packs that fall under the Smart Power banner. According to the official announcement from Elgato, the company is recalling the 6000mAh Smart Power external battery pack due to overheating issues. For those already using the product, the company sent out a notice through the app to inform them of the issues.
The company has pinpointed the series of packs that are affected by the issue, more or less, stating that the issue falls “within a limited serial number range.” Moreover, it would appear that only Smart Power battery packs purchased between September 2014 and January 2015 are affected.
Elgato says that users should stop using their battery packs immediately, and that the product should be returned “as soon as possible.”
