According to a recent job listing for an iOSÂ software engineer, eBay is developing an app for Apple’s upcoming smartwatch.
The company is looking for an engineer who is able to “design and implement solutions for the coming Apple Watch.”
The job listing states that the app is being developed by eBay’s New Technology Group, which has over 200 employees in Portland. The group focuses on new technology and makes use of upcoming technologies to move the core eBay experience forward.
The engineer will also work on developing solutions for CarPlay, Apple TV and explore other opportunities in the Apple ecosystem.
The ideal candidate for the position should have at least 5 years of experience in software development and design and a minimum of 3 years experience in developing iOS applications. The engineer should also have adequate experience with version control system like Git and bug tracking systems like JIRA.
The job listing from eBay does not reveal much about the app, including details on whether it will be a standalone app or will be tethered to the eBay app on your iPhone.
It was only earlier today that Tim Cook revealed that the Apple Watch will be released in April 2015, thereby just meeting the company’s previously announced launch timeframe of “early 2015.”
