CarPlay saw a lot of attention during the first week of 2015 thanks to the Consumer Electronics Show that took place in Las Vegas, Nevada. That support continues with Chevrolet announcing full support for Apple’s in-car system for at least one of its major releases this year. The 2016 Chevrolet Volt hybrid car was officially unveiled at the Detroit International Auto Show recently, and with it Chevy announced that the automobile will come with support for Apple’s CarPlay system right out of the gate. On top of that, and similar to Volkswagen, the new car will also support MirrorLink for its infotainment system, as reported by The Verge:
“The 2016 Volt on the stand at Detroit’s North American International Auto Show this week has an in-car entertainment system that includes support for both CarPlay and MirrorLink; both systems appear as options in the vehicle’s Settings menu.“
While the announcement is coming at the start of 2015, the newest Chevy Volt will not be released until the second part of 2015, so the wait for the vehicle will continue.
Have you tried CarPlay yet?
