During the holiday season, Apple aired a video ad in the United States entitled “The Song,” which showcased a young person using Apple products to put together an old song for a loved one.

That ad’s design was used for another video ad, this time for the first video advertisement aired in China. This ad was called “Old Record,” and showcases a similar story to the one presented in “The Song.” In that video stars a 16-year old by the name of Eleanor Lee, who happens to be the daughter of TV host Quan Yifeng. Yifeng hosts a TV show in Singapore.

As revealed by Lianhe Zaobao recently, and reported by The Straits Times, the 90-second ad, which took three days to shoot, netted Eleanor Lee a six-figure salary. The gig itself was discovered by Lee’s godfather, Addy Lee, who is a celebrity hairstylist in the region, and also the Monsoon Hair Group chief executive. Lee herself rose in the celebrity ranks after she took center stage showcasing Addy Lee’s hair products.

The future for Eleanor Lee, despite her recent ad work, is not set in stone, however, as she is focusing on her schoolwork before she makes any decisions regarding her career. Lee’s mother, Quan, recently spoke in an interview and stated that even if Lee wishes to follow her mother’s footsteps, when must finish school, first:

Even if she wants to be in showbiz in future, she cannot be a bimbo.

You can check out the ad below to see “Old Record” all over again.
