Apple’s website homepage for China has been updated with its first ad for the Chinese New Year. The video, entitled “Old Record,” is one-and-a-half minutes long and tells a familiar story.

In fact, the clip is very similar to Apple’s “The Song” ad, which was aired in the U.S. over the holiday season. It tells the story of a granddaughter who uses Apple devices and software (and Beats headphones) to create a song for her grandmother as a gift.

This is Apple’s first video advertisement for China, and it comes at a time when the Cupertino company is becoming increasingly popular locally. Its recent earnings call revealed a 157 percent increase in revenue in the country — largely thanks to its new iPhones — and it is working hard to expand its retail presence there.

CEO Tim Cook told us that China would become a key market for Apple, and that has certainly been the case over the last 12 months. Apple has even overtaken high-end goods manufacturers to become China’s most popular brand for luxury gifting.
