Late in the afternoon on Thursday, January 22, it was revealed that Millard Drexler, one of the members of the eight-person Board of Directors for Apple, is set to retire.

The announcement was made by a filing for shareholders today, and reveals that “Mickey” Drexler, age 70, who served the Board of Directors since 1990, will retire at the end of his current term. Drexler’s term is set to come to an end at the Annual Meeting, which is scheduled for March:

On January 16, 2015, Millard “Mickey” Drexler, 70, who has served on the Board since 1999, notified the Board of his intention to retire at the end of his current term, which will expire at the Annual Meeting. The Board has not yet nominated an individual to fill the vacancy that will be created by Mr. Drexler’s departure from the Board. At the Annual Meeting, proxies cannot be voted for a greater number of individuals than the seven nominees named in this Proxy Statement. Each of the directors listed below has consented to serving as a nominee, being named in this proxy statement, and serving on the Board if elected. Each director elected at the Annual Meeting will serve a one-year term.

This is the second retirement from the Board of Directors within the last year. In mid-2014, Bill Campbell retired from the board as well, with Sue Wagner taking his place. As of the time of this writing, though, a replacement for the seat that Drexler will be leaving has not been named. The entire board is set for reelection in March.

Drexler is well known for his presence within the fashion industry, including Gap and J. Crew, and is a strong presence within the co-founder circle at Apple. As it stands right at this moment, Drexler is the longest-standing member on Apple’s Board of Directors.
