Apple has updated the list of banks and card issuers supported by Apple Pay with the inclusion of eight new banks today. Apple already supports all the banks that process nearly 90 percent of the credit card transactions in the United States.

The list of new banks/card issuers that have gained support for Apple Pay are below:

  • Security Service Federal Credit Union
  • Consumers Credit Union
  • Mountain America Credit Union
  • Customers Bank
  • Virginia Credit Union
  • Partners Federal Credit Union
  • Cyprus Federal Credit Union
  • Fairwinds Credit Union

It was only less than a month ago that Apple had added support for nearly a dozen banks in Apple Pay. The company is also in talks with banks in the United Kingdom to bring its mobile payment service to the country. It is also looking at a potential partnership with Alibaba in China to speed up the process of bringing Apple Pay to the country.

Within a few months of its launch, Apple Pay has become the most popular mobile payment service out there. According to ITG Investment Research, Apple Pay accounted for 1% of the total money spend through cards by consumers in the United States.
