According to sources of Digitmes at Taiwan based supply chain, Quanta has started the mass production of the 12-inch MacBook Air, which will allow Apple to launch the laptop in Q1, 2015.

Quanta is also going to manufacture the Apple Watch for the Cupertino company and to better meet the demands it has stepped up its recruitment efforts to hire an additional 30,000 workers. However, the traditional Lunar New Year holidays is making things a bit difficult for the company.

Interestingly, the Digitimes report suggests that Apple will be supplanting the existing 11-inch MacBook Air with the upcoming 12-inch variant. The 13-inch Air, however, will continue to be on sale.

The upcoming 12-inch MacBook Air from Apple is rumored to sport a fanless design thanks to Intel’s new Broadwell processors. The laptop is also rumored to sport a single USB Type C port that will be used to charge it as well as drive external displays or connect other accessories to it.

Reports indicate that the 12-inch MacBook Air will be narrower than the existing 11-inch MacBook Air thanks to the reduced bezel space around the display. Internally dubbed as “MacBook Stealth,” the report indicates that Apple will launch the new MacBook Air sometime towards the middle of 2015, which is just around WWDC.
