Saturday Night Light has become a staple for many families over the years, and with the sketch comedy show nearing its 40th anniversary, what better way to celebrate all of the past fun than with a brand new iPhone app?As originally reported by The Hollywood Reporter, NBC Entertainment has launched a brand new app called “SNL” and as one might imagine, it provides a plethora of content for anyone that’s a fan of Saturday Night Live’s sketch humor. Thanks to the extensive back catalogue, finding a sketch from any one of the 40 previous years is pretty quick and easy.
There are 800 episodes to peruse through, with over 5,000 sketches within. NBC says that the app will continue to be updated even after the 40th anniversary special, too, so new sketches will be added on a pretty continuous basis.
One of the more noteworthy aspects of the app is its personalization, though. As the user begins to watch sketch comedies, commercials from SNL, or any other content from within the app, it will begin to generate suggestions for the user to watch next. Essentially, based on what the user watches, it will learn what kind of content is enjoyed the most and suggest more in that vein to watch.
Also, the app appears to be only U.S.-only for now, so keep that in mind as well. A link to the app is just below.
